Ketamine Therapy in Thousand Oaks

When you have done the work and something still feels just out of reach.

Not all healing comes from trying harder.
Sometimes healing begins when something finally opens.

You may have spent years reflecting, processing, and doing meaningful inner work and still feel as though a deeper shift has not landed. The emotional weight lingers. Patterns repeat. You function well on the outside, yet something inside remains braced or distant.

Ketamine-Assisted Psychotherapy, often called KAP, offers a different entry point. It does not undo the work you have done. It helps you access parts of your experience that have not fully responded to talk therapy alone.

At Simi Psychological Group, Thousand Oaks Therapy and Counseling Center, ketamine therapy is offered with care, intention, and steadiness. It is never rushed and never forced.

When You Have Gained Insight but Still Feel Held Back

You may understand your history clearly and still feel emotionally removed from it.

Even when life feels calmer, your body may carry stress or tension.
You regulate constantly instead of settling.
You think clearly, yet something inside does not soften.

This does not mean therapy has failed.
Often, it simply means access has not been available yet.

Ketamine therapy can create enough internal space for your system to loosen so deeper emotional movement can happen without overwhelm.

What Is Ketamine-Assisted Psychotherapy?

Ketamine has been used safely in medical settings for decades. In low, carefully prescribed doses and when thoughtfully paired with psychotherapy, it supports neuroplasticity, which is the brain’s ability to form new pathways and perspectives.

Rather than pushing insight, ketamine softens internal rigidity.
The medicine creates openness.
Therapy helps that openness take shape.

Preparation and integration are what allow the experience to become lasting change.

What the Experience
Can Feel Like

Ketamine sessions are often described as quiet, reflective, and deeply personal.

Some people experience spaciousness or gentle distance from long held emotional patterns. Others feel more connected to intuition or memory. Many describe a softening of internal pressure and a shift from managing to observing.

Your therapist remains present throughout, offering grounding and steady containment so whatever unfolds can be met safely.

Every experience is different.
What matters most is how it is understood afterward and how it is woven into your life.

How People Often Recognize Themselves in This Work

People seek ketamine therapy for many reasons. These are not diagnoses, but lived experiences.

When Anxiety Has Become a Way of Living

A body that stays alert. A mind that rarely rests.
Ketamine therapy can help ease internal vigilance and allow the nervous system to experience safety without effort.

When Depression Feels Like Distance

You may be functioning and still feel emotionally muted.
Ketamine therapy can gently interrupt this flatness and allow clarity and connection to return.

When the Past Still Shapes the Present

You understand your story and your body still reacts.
Ketamine can support a different relationship with memory, one with more distance and choice.

When the Pull Is Toward Growth

Not everyone arrives because something is wrong.
Some feel ready to release old patterns or reconnect with something more authentic.
