Carrie Bican, LMFT

Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist

I’m Carrie Bican

Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist

I  believe “hardships are a detour – not a dead end,” so I admire all who have the strength to continue their journey by reaching out.

My focus is working with children, teens, and families by helping them through difficult times and ultimately to help ensure they have the strong united family unit they desire. I work closely with individuals struggling with stress and anxiety, trauma history, grief and loss, phase of life changes, work related issues and self-esteem. I have an open heart and open arms for people of LGTBQ, POC, and individuals of all ages. I believe that every individual has the power to make great milestones in the way they communicate, view themselves, and the world.  My goal is to help you recognize that you can conquer any change you desire to happen along with consistency and dedication.

In the room I am present, compassionate and use creativity to help us reach your goals. You can expect a dependable, respectful, warm environment that helps cater to your unique life. I make sure to foster an environment of acceptance while we navigate and explore solutions that fit your individual needs and experience. When I work with families I like to include all members as part of the process in efforts to create real deep rooted change. I do so in  a non judgemental environment while ensuring the family has all the resources they need to move in the right direction.

In Therapy

We often need to look at life and self from different angles and with many different strategies. In therapy I use an integrative approach including cognitive behavioral therapy, attachment theory, and family systems. I like to create individualized and unique plans centered around my clients needs in order to provide the best support possible. I honor your consideration of having me as part of your life and space. I am dedicated to understanding your story and helping guide you through it to the end. I believe every individual has a true life purpose, and it can sometimes take constructive help to find out what that is.

Education and Background

I received my Master of Science in Counseling Psychology with an emphasis in Marital and Family Therapy from California Lutheran University. While attending California Lutheran University, I began working with most in-need populations. I have experience working as a school-based counselor with adolescents, within private practice and psychiatric settings where I gained experience with clients suffering from persistent and severe mental health diagnosis, such as schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, personality disorders, developmental disorders, and substance use disorders.

I have ample experience working in the mental health field, tending to everyday people as I continue to learn and grow with my clients. I am passionate about continuing to strengthen my knowledge and education to provide my clients the best care.
